Showered with awards and critical acclaim, this darkly comic Canadian series follows the fortunes of a dysfunctional Shakespearean theatre troupe, exposing the high drama, scorching battles, and electrifying thrills that happen behind the scenes.

Paul Gross (Due South) stars as Geoffrey Tennant, the passionate but unstable artistic director of the New Burbage Theatre Festival. Haunted by the ghost of his predecessor (Stephen Ouimette), he struggles to realize his creative vision while handling touchy actors, a jittery general manager (Mark McKinney), a pretentious guest director (Don McKellar) and his own tempestuous romance with the festivals leading lady (Martha Burns). The backstage bedlam mirrors the onstage angst as Geoffrey directs three of Shakespeares masterpieces -- Hamlet, Macbeth and King Lear -- one in each season. Guest stars include Rachel McAdams (Wedding Crashers), Colm Feore (Chicago), Sarah Polley (Go, The Sweet Hereafter), and renowned Stratford Festival actor William Hutt in one of his last performances.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE cast interviews, bloopers, deleted and extended scenes, photo galleries, production notes, trailers and song lyrics. Plus exclusive bonus disc: "A Look Behind the Scenes" featurette, more cast and crew interviews, and on-set footage.

If there is a better television series produced about community theatre, I havent seen it. This series masterfully touches every emotion and leaves you breathless. Even though the series revolves around community theatre, it isnt just for those thespians amongst us. It is for everyone. If youve ever laughed, cried or screamed in frustration, this series is for you.

Highly recommended. If you love Theatre and the classics, its something you will watch again and again. Youll recommend it to your friends, maybe even loan it. Ive gifted it to family for holidays and birthdays. Excellent series and bittersweet that only three seasons were planned.

One of the smartest, funniest, most entertaining shows ever on television. Finally a show that doesnt assume its audience cant read or write. BRAVO!!! Its an insiders guide to the woes of producing theatre festivals, actors struggles, the richness of Shakespeare, and an insightful view of what it means to create an aesthetic experience (as seen from both those who appreciate and understand, and those who dont understand the need or get it on any level). And after all that, its still so much more!

Slings and Arrows was completely unfamiliar to me when a colleague recommended it so highly that I uncharacteristically "went for it and bought the entire set.
I watched the first episode, and found myself following with the second and third etc. I am convinced and found it really difficult to stop!
Delightful and entertaining, it weaves a spell all its own. Great portrayals of interesting and unusual theater folk who find themselves unravelling along with their theatre company.
Canadian TV masterpiece

SLINGS & ARROWS, a peek behind the scenes at a fictitious Canadian Shakespeare festival is, not to mince words, a masterpiece that will be viewed, studied and enjoyed for centuries to come, for as long as people watch television, long after DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and GREYS ANATOMY and LOST have become Trivial Pursuit answers that nobody gets. If you love Shakespeare, or theater in general, or if you just enjoy hilarious comedy, or if you like getting swept up in a riveting soap opera -- in short, if you have a brain in your head, you owe it to yourself to see all three seasons of SLINGS & ARROWS, in order. Youll no doubt want to own it, too, so you might as well buy it now.
